History and culture

fascinating medieval villages

Among the places to visit in Rimini and its surroundings we recommend to discover historical places, little known but really suggestive. In addition to beaches, sea and parks, Romagna is much more. Come and discover it by staying at the Hotel Holland; we will be able to suggest the best for your cultural visits

city of sea and culture

Renowned summer holiday destination, it is also an important city of art and culture. Among the places to see we recommend the Roman monuments, such as the Arch of Augustus, the Roman Amphitheater, the Tiberius Bridge, the medieval monuments, such as the Arengo Palace and the Palace of the Podestà, and those of the Renaissance, such as the Malatesta Temple and Castel Sismondo

But Rimini is also a city in continuous renewal and currently with many urban projects underway, such as the reopening of the Fulgor Cinema and the Galli Theatre where many moments of meeting and culture will take place.

San Marino

the oldest republic in the world

The oldest and smallest Sovereign State in the world, it boasts years of history combined with important monuments. Among the monuments, the 3 Towers (the Guaita, the Cesta and the Montale), symbol of San Marino, are undoubtedly the most important

There are also many beautiful castles to visit, nine in the area, and special museums to discover. This small Republic is also an undisputed destination for the most varied shopping at affordable prices.

between Romagna and Marche

Picturesque enough to seem immersed in a faraway world full of magic, it is the perfect place to taste a cuisine that suffers the charm of the two lands, that of the Marche and that of Romagna

We must not forget that the walls of the city still jealously guard the events of the tormented love between Paul and Francesca, praised by Dante Alighieri of the Divine Comedy (in the fifth canto of 'Inferno).

San Leo

in the heart of the Marecchia Valley

It stands on an enormous rocky boulder all around insurmountable; it is accessed by a single road carved into the rock. The city hosted Dante and St. Francis of Assisi, but it is especially known for the mysterious and fascinating character who was the Count "alchemist" Cagliostro, imprisoned in the Fort and died there in 1795.

We also invite you to visit: the Fortress, the Parish Church and the Cathedral. The panorama in San Leo is one of the most beautiful in the region, so it's worth a visit to this delightful village

Santarcangelo di Romagna

full of underground tunnels

The peculiarity of this city is that it is distinguished historically and artistically in two parts: an eighteenth century, the medieval visible in the upper part that stands above Mount Jupiter, which is also home to more than 100 tufa caves, one of the most fascinating mysteries of Romagna

To visit are the elegant churches, the tiny alleys of the old town, the Malatesta Fortress, the Ethnographic Museum of Uses and Customs of the People of Romagna, the Collected Church and the Clock Tower.

between history and magic

When we talk about Montebello, we inevitably talk about its Castle and the story of Azzurrina, an albino girl who died prematurely. Its history thus becomes a particular popular legend that has been handed down for over three centuries

Legend has it that the girl's ghost has been trapped in the castle and that it is heard again in the summer solstice of every luster, followed by suggestive paranormal phenomena.

My family had a wonderful experience at this family run, very clean and tastefully decorated hotel. Definitely recommend the full board as the food is incredible. All the pasta is homemade and there is a really nice selection of fish, meat and always a rich buffet of vegetable dishes to start.
